Ranking The Billboard 2020 Year End Hot 100

Yes 2020 bad whatever every single critic is going to begin their lists like this. Here at oofy_Boof we want to get to the real juice, you're here to have my hot loads of opinions dropped on you. So let's begin.

SHIT TIER (0/5)

100. Jonas Brothers - Only Human
(Peak: #18, YE: #77)

At least the worst hit of the year wasn't really a hit this year. I have no idea how it even made this year's list, considering I'm pretty sure no one thought about it after all the people with taste put it on their 2019 worst lists. There's no point in me talking about it now. It's not real. That sound? Of a gremlin pissing in your ear? Yeah it's not on this year end list. Pretty sure you're in the wrong neighborhood.

99. Sam Hunt - Hard To Forget
(Peak: #26,  YE: #69)

I have no idea why I hate this so much, considering I like Body Like a Back Road, a song which tries to be good even less than this. I guess I just find that one relaxing, while this one. . just scares me. It's completely unfamiliar territory for me. The feelings it gives me aren't those of bad country music, bad pop music or bad trap music. No. only one song has ever made me feel something like this. One, very terrifying song.

98. Trevor Daniel - Falling
(Peak: #17, YE: #22)

The instrumental to this sounds like 50% misogyny 50% emo trap type beat, which sounds right up my alley but holy shit it's bad.

97. Jawsh 685 & Jason Derulo - S*v*ge Love
(Peak: #1, YE: #35)

I love pretty much everything Jason Derulo has ever released. But even I must admit that his comeback this year has been extremely disappointing. Let's go through every song he released this year:
S*v*ge Love - absolutely terrible, everything sounds like a wet fart
Coño - that one just terrifies me
Don't Cry For Me - I was actually hyped for this one, I mean, Alok & Jason Derulo??? Jason Derulo Lithuanian Bass????? But the song sounded like a very bad posthumous Avicii deep cut.
Take You Dancing - Okay that one is actually amazing, can we please make it a hit that would justify his return
Love Not War (The Tampa Beat) - Still doing the lame s*v*ge love formula, this one is significantly better but the horns still keep me from fully enjoying it.

96. Lewis Capaldi - Before You Go
(Peak: #9,  YE: #21)

He actually made me miss Someone You Loved, the madman

95. BENEE ft. Gus Dapperton - Supalonely
(Peak: #39,  YE: #84)

I hate the grunt, I hate her inflections on the verses, I hate the quirky feel this has, I hate the lalalalas, I hate the "I'm a lonely bitch", I hate I HATE Gus Dapperton's verse oh my god why did we let someone named Gus have a hit
(but the production is pretty decent)

94. Surfaces - Sunday Best
(Peak: #19,  YE: #61)

Lame.

93. Maroon 5 - Memories
(Peak: #2,  YE: #8)

Potentially their last hit. Hopefully.

92. Lewis Capaldi - Someone You Loved
(Peak: #1,  YE: #10)

I think we were all a bit too harsh on it back in 2019. It's probably absolutely awful if you live in the UK, but like, it's the UK, everything there is absolutely awful.

BAD TIER (1/5)

91. Gabby Barrett ft. Charlie Puth - I Hope (Remix)
(Peak: #3,  YE: #12)

If I heard this song one more time it'd be in the shit tier. I hate everything about the chorus it just goes on and on and on and on and on

90. Shawn Mendes ft. Camila Cabello - Señorita
(Peak: #1,  YE: #44)

ah yes because if there's anything we needed more of it's arguments against heterosexuality

89. Arizona Zervas - Roxanne
(Peak: #4,  YE: #16)

The beat is cheap and this dude is annoying. If I wanted to listen to someone being a douche I'd just listen to blackbear.

88. Justin Bieber - Yummy
(Peak: #2,  YE: #58)

87. Dan + Shay ft. Justin Bieber - 10,000 Hours
(Peak: #4,  YE: #23)

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

86. NLE Choppa ft. Roddy Ricch - Walk Em Down
(Peak: #38,  YE: #100)

Wow what a disappointment. We really let this make the year end list while Camelot got caught between years? And what's even worse is that it's #100. This place could have gone to something like Out West, Tusa or even Tap In. But no. We just had to get the *ruff ruff*.

85. Jason Aldean - Got What I Got
(Peak: #16,  YE: #60)

I was dreading listening to the year end list when I found out that there were 18 country songs on it. What I found out is that I don't really hate country music. Most of these songs were just mediocre to me and some were surprisingly good. However this one. It just sounds like shit.

84. Ariana Grande & Justin Bieber - Stuck With U
(Peak: #1,  YE: #80)

It's an unbelievably cynical song coming from a place of privilege but also. I really don't hate the way it sounds. It's Perfect but not sung by Ed Sheeran, which is a very very very very good thing. I didn't really know where to place it, but top of the bad tier seems to make sense.

MEH TIER (2/5)

83. Luke Bryan - One Margarita
(Peak: #19,  YE: #70)

rip to the third margarita ig??? but im built different thou??????

82. Luke Combs - Lovin' On You
(Peak: #23,  YE: #97)

Not a big fan of this Luke Combs fella.

81. Harry Styles - Watermelon Sugar
(Peak: #1,  YE: #20)

Way too heterosexual to be good.

80. Doja Cat ft. Tyga - Juicy
(Peak: #41,  YE: #87)

The production on this one is not very good, it gets so tiring after a while

79. Eminem ft. Juice WRLD - Godzilla

(Peak: #3,  YE: #62)

This would be in the shit tier if not for the chorus. Who cares how many words he can say in a minute if every single one sounds like shit.

78. DJ Khaled ft. Drake - Popstar
(Peak: #3,  YE: #66)

That little +!*bitches*!+ in the beginning is the funniest moment of the year.

77. Megan Thee Stallion ft. Beyonce - S*v*ge-
(Peak:  #1,  YE: #15)

Aaaaah oh no. I really wanted to like this one, but trying to extend this beat to 4 minutes was a recipe for disaster.

76. Kane Brown ft. Swae Lee & Khalid - Be Like That
(Peak: #19,  YE: #88)

It has all the elements that would make a *vibe* song like what this is trying to be good, but none of them work correctly.

75. Luke Combs ft. Eric Church - Does To Me
(Peak: #20,  YE: #93)

"and that might not mean much to you" no you're right it doesn't 😹👎

74. Lady Gaga ft. Ariana Grande - Rain On Me                                  (Peak: #1,  YE: #45)

Not a bad song, but it's so depressing to hear lady gaga try to recapture that 2010 spark with some of the most generic pop-house production imaginable.

73. Powfu ft. beabadoobee - death bed                                                  (Peak: #23,  YE: #43)

Yeah I do really like the sample and uuuhhh

72. Drake - Toosie Slide                                                                                                       (Peak: #1,  YE: #32)

This is not a bad song, but I'm surprised by the amount of defenders it has. I probably would really like it if it was 2 minutes long, but also Drake released a much much better relaxing song later in the year (Greece), so this really is just unnecessary.

71. Old Dominion - One Man Band                                                      (Peak: #20,  YE: #59)

what am i gonna get ratioed by blurry old dominion now or

70. Kane Brown - Homesick                                                                               (Peak: #35,  YE: #89)

gorg w bush

69. Lil Nas X - Panini                                                                            (Peak: #5,  YE: #71)

I... honestly don't know why that one never clicked with me, something about it just does not work

68. Selena Gomez - Lose You To Love Me                                                                (Peak: #1,  YE: #30)

-it's honestly surprising how this is not only her first #1 hit so late in her career, but also it had a very respectable run in the top 20                                                                                                                          -i want to like this song so much, i like the lyrics a lot, and she sounds... better than the usual most of the time. But the problem is that the last chorus is just... The strings? All the background vocals? Everything is actively working against itself. Shame, cause it could have been really good

67. Lil Baby - Sum 2 Prove                                                                    (Peak: #16,  YE: #79)

Lil Baby had an amazing year and I'm glad I enjoy almost all of his hits. This one is also pretty good, the only problem it has is the part when the left ear goes tss tss tss. I do not like my left ear going tss tss tss. If I only had my right ear it would be an entire tier higher.

DECENT TIER (3/5)

66. Morgan Wallen - More Than My Hometown                                                  (Peak: #15,  YE: #96)

Eh? Out of the 2 biggest stars in country music rn, I definitely prefer Morgan Wallen over Luke Combs. I do not love either of them, it's not my kind of music at all, but he does get the songs right sometimes. And he's blurry. And hot. This is alright.

65. Maddie & Tae - Die From a Broken Heart                                      (Peak: #22,  YE: #66)

this is pretty sweet and all but like do i care?

64. Lee Brice - One Of Them Girls                                                      (Peak: #17,  YE: #68)

I think this is the country hit that I'm supposed to hate this year? Honestly I don't dislike it at all. It kinda bounces.

63. Lizzo - Good as Hell                                                                        (Peak: #3,  YE: #31)

Casper Hates Women?????

62. Blake Shelton ft. Gwen Stefani - Nobody But You                        (Peak: #18,  YE: #52)

I can't explain this one

61. Camila Cabello ft. DaBaby - My Oh My                                        (Peak: #12,  YE: #37)

I've heard 6 songs from Romance and they all range from bad to completely awful. Other than this one. And yet it still does, like, everything wrong. Camila sounds bad like always, the prechorus doesn't fit anything, they do all this buildup before the last chorus and what for? To add the gang vocals and these shitty synths? And yet it's still decent because of the production and DaBaby, the god.

60. Luke Combs - Even Though I'm Leaving                                        (Peak: #11,  YE: #85)

i'm just sitting here thinking of things to say about it and there's nothing in my mind. don't blurry luke combs me in the replies.

59. Travis Scott - Highest In The Room                                                (Peak: #1,  YE: #45)

Oh, right this happened. The outro is great, the rest of the song is fine.

58. Drake ft. Lil Durk - Laugh Now Cry Later                                      (Peak: #2,  YE: #41)
I'm honestly not the biggest fan of this beat? Usually I like these rap instrumentals with horns but in this one they sound so... watery. And their melody is not the best. Song's nice though.

57. Chris Brown ft. Drake - No Guidance                                            (Peak: #5,  YE: #36)

It was never that bad c'mon guys

56. JP Saxe ft. Julia Michaels - If The World Was Ending                    (Peak: #27,  YE: #56)

I wasn't expecting to see this one on so many worst lists, and even while I get it while someone would put it on there, I don't mind it at all. Kinda cute.

55. Lizzo - Truth Hurts                                                                          (Peak: #1,  YE: #55)

This is probably iconic if you're american but I Simply Do Not Get It

54. Pop Smoke ft. 50 Cent & Roddy Ricch - The Woo                        (Peak: #11,  YE: #78)

The beat is absolutely gorgeous, too bad no one knows what to do with it.

53. Rod Wave ft. ATR Son Son - Rags2Riches                                    (Peak: #12,  YE: #90)

Between the long intro and outro this barely feels like a song, but what we do get is nice. Where my ATRSonSonators at?

52. Dua Lipa - Don't Start Now                                                            (Peak: #2,  YE: #4)

All I'm going to say about it is that even the producer of the song wishes it sounded more like Say So.

51. Maren Morris - The Bones                                                              (Peak: #12,  YE: #9)

See, there are some country songs that I have mostly positive feelings on. This is cute.

50. BTS - Dynamite                                                                              (Peak: #1,  YE: #38)

I actually got ratioed by the armys over this song and I don't even dislike it smh

49. Miranda Lambert - Bluebird                                                            (Peak: #26,  YE: #91)

Good!, for a country song.

48. Morgan Wallen - Chasin' You                                                          (Peak: #16,  YE: #34)

And finally, we have reached the top of the country songs. There's no way I am going to rate a country song higher than a 3/5. Right? But this is good. Sounds really nice.

47. Harry Styles - Adore You                                                                (Peak: #6,  YE: #6)

Not as heterosexual as Watermelon Sugar so it's instantly way higher.

46. Tones And I - Dance Monkey                                                          (Peak: #4,  YE: #14)

reject modernity,,, embrace monke...

I know that her vocals can get annoying. But holy shit. Have you heard the last chorus?

GOOD TIER (4/5)

45. Jhene Aiko - P*$$y Fairy (OTW)                                                    (Peak: #40,  YE: #94)

CUM!!!!! OMG CUM!!!!! THERE IS CUM!!! MORE CUM!!!! CUM IS GOING UP!!!!!!!! CUMMMMMMMMM!!!! CUM WENT UP!!!!! OMG!!!!!! THERES MORE CUM!!!!!!!! CUM!!!!!!!!!!! CUM INCREASED!!! THERE IS CUM!!!! CUM CUM CUM—WOW CUM WENT UP!!!!!SCARY CUM! WOW

44. YNW Melly ft. Juice WRLD - Suicidal (Remix)                            (Peak: #20,  YE: #75)

I would make a joke about YNW Melly drinking Juice WRLD's piss but that would be- oh wait it's too late

43. Rod Wave - Heart On Ice                                                                (Peak: #25,  YE: #51)

heart 💔 been broke 📉 so many times ⏰ i don’t know 🤔 what to believe 💯 mama 👩‍❤️‍💋‍👩 said 🗣 it’s my fault 😢 it’s my fault 🤦🏻‍♂️i wear my heart ❤️ on my sleeve 💪 i think it’s best 👍🏻 I put my heart ❤️ on ice 🧊

42. Jack Harlow ft. DaBaby, Tory Lanez, Lil Wayne - Whats Poppin  (Peak: #2,  YE: #13)

It is good but I like Tyler Herro a lot more.

41. Chris Brown & Young Thug - Go Crazy                                        (Peak: #9,  YE: #39)

I wish they didn't make the chorus so perfect.

40. DaBaby ft. Roddy Ricch - ROCKSTAR                                      (Peak: #1,  YE: #5)

I mean... Where would the world even be right now if Seth wasn't in the kitchen? What an awful place.

39. Pop Smoke ft. Lil Tjay - Mood Swings                                          (Peak: #17,  YE: #81)

Maybe I just want someone to nut on my covers

38. Dua Lipa - Break My Heart                                                            (Peak: #13,  YE: #33)

It did not pass the overplay test for me :(

37. Justin Bieber ft. Quavo - Intentions                                                (Peak: #5,  YE: #17)

Ah... I know this is not a popular opinion. And for a good reason. It's completely embarassing. Justin Bieber drops some of the worst lyrics of his career, then Quavo comes in and suddenly I feel like I'm in 2017 where every other pop song had Quavo on it.

And yet despite it all I still like the song a lot. It's got everything to do with the production. Like a third of Changes tries to go for exact the same vibe, but this is the only one that nails it. The way the bass overpowers everything in the mix combined with the bubbly synths creates a mood like no other. Makes me feel like I'm stuck in a bubble that keeps shrinking. And I know it doesn't make sense. But that's how it feels.

36. Future ft. Drake - Life Is Good                                                        (Peak: #2,  YE: #7)

Great Drake song, pretty good Future song, stitched together for some reason.

35. DaBaby - Bop                                                                                  (Peak: #11,  YE: # 29)

Dababy... Peenor...

34. H.E.R ft. YG - Slide                                                                        (Peak: #43,  YE: #99)

My pick for the most underappreciated song of the year. It's such a vibe.

33. Young Thug ft. Gunna - Hot                                                            (Peak: #11,  YE: #72)

The beat is so unbelievably good, to the point of no one being able to match it.

32. Juice WRLD - Wishing Well                                                          (Peak: #5,  YE: #92)

It's a great song, but I don't really revisit it often due to how heartbreaking it is.

31. Lil Baby - Woah                                                                              (Peak: #15,  YE: #42)

The way he said "don't care about your boyfriend" brought this like 10 spots up. like holy shit.

30. Roddy Ricch ft. Mustard - High Fashion                                        (Peak: #20,  YE: #40)

it's a feeling, it's a vibe

GREAT TIER (5/5)

29. Mustard ft. Roddy Ricch - Ballin'                                                    (Peak: #11,  YE: #25)

They work so well together.

28. Juice WRLD ft. YoungBoy Never Broke Again - Bandit                (Peak: #10,  YE: #63)

I wish it didn't have Youngboy on it but it's still great

27. The Weeknd - Heartless                                                                  (Peak: #1,  YE: #28)

bumps in the whip

26. Carly Pearce ft. Lee Brice - I Hope You're Happy Now                  (Peak: #27,  YE: #73)

Right I... That must be a mistake. It can't be. There is no way I put a country song in the great tier. Let me relisten.

Ah... I guess there really was one great country song on the year end list. I.I. How did that even happen. It's just... Where almost every other country song was either boring or annoying, this one is just.... so goooooood... All the melodies are so catchy and bouncy, both Lee Brice and Carly Pearce sound great and have such great interplay. And then on the bridge... Lee Brice just goes the fuck off, he sounds amazing! I wasn't expecting to hear something this great from a genre that is always the most tedious part on any year end list.

25. Cardi B ft. Megan Thee Stallion - WAP                                          (Peak: #1,  YE: #24)

It took me some time to fully get over on WAP train because of how minimal the beat is, but once I got over that, yeah it is a great song. Still not enough to make me believe that sex exists though.

24. Travis Scott & Kid Cudi - The Scotts                                              (Peak: #1,  YE: #86)

It might have one melody going through the entire song, but damn is it catchy.

23. Lil Baby - The Bigger Picture                                                          (Peak: #3,  YE: #76)

Very good and important song. I'm glad it's here.

22. Billie Eilish - bad guy                                                                      (Peak: #1,   YE: #46)

Billie will never have a bigger hit than this and I'm okay with that

21. Juice WRLD & Marshmello - Come & Go                                    (Peak: #2,  YE: #54)

This is his last song on this list so also my last chance to mention this... fuck I miss Juice WRLD so much...

20. Moneybagg Yo - Said Sum                                                              (Peak: #17,  YE: #98)

This was almost a last minute entry in the honorable mentions and it very narrowly missed it. And I get why people mostly dislike it. But I love it. For the most part it's just a good song, mostly carried by the adlibs (run it up run it up). But the reason why it's in the great tier is the chorus. It's not like he says anything special in it, the beat just goes dimdididimdim. It makes me feel so anxious and insane.

and the original is better don't @ me

19. The Black Eyed Peas ft. J Balvin - Ritmo                                        (Peak: #26,  YE: #50)

If you're Latine it's probably really embarassing to hear but also

he really did learn that shit down in Mexico 5/5

18. StaySolidRocky - Party Girl                                                            (Peak: #21,  YE: #64)

Extremely simplistic but StaySolidRocky sounds great, the beat is weirdly gorgeous and it has the best lyric of the entire year (I told her "call me rocky", she say she not gon' call me that)

17. Pop Smoke ft. Lil Baby & DaBaby - For The Night                      (Peak: #6,  YE: #49)

Music to drink desperados nocturno piwo o smaku tequili 400 ml with the boys to

16. Halsey - You Should Be Sad                                                            (Peak: #26,  YE: #82)

yes halsey i am

15. SHAED - Trampoline                                                                      (Peak: #13,  YE: #53)

Extremely surprised it's here considering I don't think anyone cared about it since November last year (and so high too???), but I'm glad it's here. It's a great song, I love how haunting and beautiful the beat is.

14. Roddy Ricch - The Box                                                                   (Peak: #1,  YE: #3)

give in to the ee ur overlords

now

13. Doja Cat - Say So                                                                            (Peak: #1,  YE: #11)

Everything surrounding this song is awful but like, the song itself is still amazing

12. Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You                            (Peak: #1,  YE: #67)

haha yeah man im totally looking forward to seeing this and 10 other christmas songs on every year end list

11. Surf Mesa ft. Emilee - ily (i love you baby)                                    (Peak: #23,  YE: #95)

All it has is the vibe

Does it need anything else?

No, let's move on.

10. 24kGoldn ft. iann dior - Mood                                                        (Peak: #1,  YE: #47)

I don't think I will ever feel anything like hearing the chorus for the first time.

9. Post Malone - Circles                                                                        (Peak: #1,  YE: #2)

A Circles-free hot 100 just doesn't feel the same.

8. Pop Smoke - Dior                                                                              (Peak: #22,  YE: #83)

A modern classic.

7. Lil Baby ft. 42 Dugg - We Paid                                                          (Peak: #42,  YE: #42)

The transition from a We Paid-hater into a WePaidinator is something everyone has to go through.

6. Lil Baby - Emotionally Scarred
(Peak: #31,  YE: #74)

It's just.... so beautiful and heartwarming.

5. Billie Eilish - everything i wanted
(Peak: #8,  YE: #18)

I listen to it very rarely but every time I do it I'm shocked by how amazing it is.

4. Lil Mosey - Blueberry Faygo
(Peak: #8,  YE: #27)

At this point if it's in your top 3 you're just coping

I am included in that.

3. blackbear - hot girl bummer
(Peak: #11,  YE: #26)

Probably the best "fuck the world" anthem there is.

2. The Weeknd - Blinding Lights
(Peak: #1,  YE: #1)

I mean, what hasn't been said about this. It's pretty much the perfect song. The melodies are all so big and amazing. Makes me feel like I'm entering a whole different universe.

But it's not number one

Nothing different could be

What else, but

👑1. SAINt JHN - Roses (Imanbek Remix)👑
(Peak: #4,  YE: #19)

It began in April 2019.
That's when Imanbek, an 18 year old from Kazakhstan remixed the original Roses.
He did it in 2 hours and 30 minutes.
He did not have the original stems. He just pitchshifted, timestretched and EQ'd everything in the mix, then added a simple beat and some synth bass.
This was not supposed to work. This was supposed to be just another small remix released on the Russian site VK. Songs like these are made all the time. None of them ever become huge, worldwide hits.
But this one slipped through.
Imanbek made probably the greatest party song of all time. It's like it goes on forever, it begins loud and never stops, just sometimes slows down to return harder than ever before. And it never gets tiring. It's an instant banger, from the first second till the last.

I love it. I love it so much. I love everything it represents, I love how a bootleg remix made in 2 hours can become one of the biggest songs worldwide. I love the fact that 2 years after the genre became big through Dynoro's In My Mind we got a Lithuanian Bass song to chart in America, not barely touch the bottom 50, not in the top 10 but in the top 5, being one of the 20 biggest hits of the year. I love how it started an entire new wave of Lithuanian Bass, with some of the most well known DJs now making music like that. This song, its success and the fact that Imanbek followed me on Twitter make me feel like whatever I'm doing here is not pointless. You can reach your dreams, kids. All you have to is spread Roses propaganda one more time.

Well, this was fun to do. The score is 0 + 8 + 34 + 63 + 64 + 145 = 314/500. Expect more based rankings soon, stream Whoopty and goodnight.
